This book seeks to bring together the principles of management and accounting. in an insurance situation.
For convenience of printing. reading. and perhaps a subsequent detailed study. it has been divided into two volumes.
Volume I is concerned with management in general and the specific areas of motiva-tion. organisation structure and personnel. In covering these aspects in an insurance environment it cannot be comprehensive. but hopefully will provide the impetus for wider reading. The specific areas cannot really be isolated and an adequate comprehension of the whole will only be gained by constantly considering each area in the situation of the complete organisation. Additional reading is essential and should as a minimum include the bibliography. but hopefully will extend beyond that.
Volume Il covers the use of accountancy in management. the interpretation of elementary financial accounting data. budgetary methods and the basis of taxation; again. all in the insurance environment. In reading this volume reference should be made to the Statutes and Regulations quoted.
