The Oriental Life Insurance Cultural Development Center provides various seminars and publication on life insurance theory and practices for the purpose of contributing to the development of the life insurance industry in Asian countries. and this publication is a part of its activities.
This book is a complete translation of Issues on Life Insurance Contracts
(1981) and The Fundamentals of Life Insurance Policy Conditions - for better understanding (1989) written by Mr. Akira Yoshida. The author joined the Kyoei Life Insurance Co.. Ltd. in 1953. held positions in departmental manager of the general affairs department. the legal department. etc. and was appointed director in 1982. And. in
1989. after the retirement from the
company the author became professor of law at Sapporo University. This background characterizes the author as a scholar. During those years. while the author assumed responsibilities for office work of a life company. he devoted himself to the study on laws relating to insurance and delivered a course of lectures at the Institute of Actuaries of Japan. the Research Institute of Life Insurance Welfare. Waseda University. Senshu University. etc. Also. the author tackled the legal problems the Japanese life insurance companies encountered in the midst of convulsion as the chairman of the Insurance Law Expert Committee of the Life Insurance Association of Japan.
