Ethnicity and Migration in The Mekong River Delta of Vietnam 1975-2007

This study tries to gain knowledge about the long term relationship between ethnic groups and migration of the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam. from 1970s until the present. The analysis is focused on the existence of some ethnic groups and their migration process in terms of history. pattern. causal factors. and occupations. as well as the matter of interethnic relationship. In trying to seek the underlying ideas. this study looks at the issues of emerging societies. such as ethnicity. migration. and abundance of natural resources in the Mekong River Delta. Hence. this research is expected to figure out a comprehensive awareness of the role of interethnic relationship in the migration process and the government policies in coping with migration problems in Vietnam.
