There is no doubt that this book will generate supplemental publications from vendors who seek to provide products and services for CFA candidates. I expect two types of books to appear. The first is a publication that will simply dilute the contents of this book. claiming that a candidate can review summary points without reading the full book. I think that a CFA candidate who accepts such a claim will be misled. The reason why is that there is no extraneous material in this book. All the topics are critical and were carefully selected. The end of chapter questions and problems were designed to bring out major points. Given the resources and time involved in producing this book. to believe that a vendor could put together a comparable book in a short period of time (without violating copyright laws) ? especially if the author is not a specialist in fixed income and is effectively staying one step ahead of the candidate ? would be a mistake. On the topic of summaries. I do believe that good summary points are helpful to the candidate in assessing what may need to be reviewed before an examination. For this reason. I have put together an extensive listing of key points at the end of each chapter.
